Nature Conservancy
The town of Boulder, at the edge of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, is a window into Utah's agricultural past. But that window is closing due to the subdivision of farmland. The Boulder region features important riparian areas that support a wealth of wildlife. In addition, because of its location, the Boulder valley supports some of the most rich and productive agricultural soils in the state. To preserve the region's habitat, The Nature Conservancy is working on an initiative to collaborate with community, including landowners and public officials on critical land and water protection as well as habitat restoration. From conservation easements on specific at-risk acreage to education programs and new scientific research, the Conservancy's Boulder Conservation Initiative will safeguard what makes this area of Utah so special. |
