EnergySolutions Pledges $3 Million to EnergySolutions Environmental Foundation
First donation to reclaim sunken boats and planes at Lake Powell
Salt Lake City, Utah - May 5, 2005 EnergySolutions has increased its contribution to $3 million for the EnergySolutions Environmental Foundation after evaluating the need for additional funds to assist with environmental improvement projects in Utah. The Foundation was established in February by EnergySolutions' new owners to fund projects dedicated to preserve and enhance Utah's environment.
"We recognize the need for financial assistance to environmental projects and this foundation is a great start for a positive long-term effect on Utah's environment," said Fraser Bullock, Executive Director of the foundation. "EnergySolutions' donation of $3 million is a strong indication of just how committed this company is to the health, safety and preservation of Utah's environment."
"We are an environmental clean-up company dedicated to cleaning up the country's environment and that includes the great state of Utah," said Tim Barney, EnergySolutions Senior Vice President. "There are many environmental needs throughout the state and EnergySolutions' board approved this foundation understanding there is a lot of work to be done in preserving Utah's environment for future generations to enjoy."
The first donation goes to the Cross Intl Search and Recovery for the Lake Powell Clean up effort," a project dedicated to the removal of sunken boats and planes. "This donation of $52,000 will help retrieve sunken boats and planes here at Lake Powell that are contaminating the water," said Jim Cross, Founding member of Cross International. "We recognize that Lake Powell is a resource not only to Utahns but to people from all over the world and are proud of the efforts our team is making to improve the quality of Lake Powell."
