$150,000 Donated to the Learning Center at Farmington Bay

Envirocare Environmental Foundation Keeps Promise to Education People on the State's Natural Resources

Salt Lake City, Utah - October 11, 2005 The Envirocare Environmental Foundation donated $150,000 to the Great Salt Lake Interpretive Trust to relocate the Farmington Bay Learning Center. Currently the facility is located at its' original construction site nearly a mile from the actual Bay. Relocating the Learning Center out onto the marsh will increase its educational potential.

"We appreciate the donation made by the Envirocare Environmental Foundation," said Bob Hasenyager, Northern Regional Supervisor of the Division of Wildlife Resources. "The Learning Center provides a great opportunity for children across the Wasatch Front, especially Davis and Weber County to learn first hand the importance of The Great Salt Lake and migratory fowl."

The center also provides classrooms and wet labs where students can explore the varied uses of the Great Salt Lake and the potential for sustained coexistence between the lake and man.

"The Great Salt Lake is known world wide and is one of Utah's most significant resources and its ecosystem plays a large part in the state economy," said Fraser Bullock, Chairman of the Foundation Board. "Educating Utah's youth will lead to a preserved ecosystem and a sustainable income for the state. We are proud to contribute to this worthy cause."

State Legislature will also request funding during the 2006 Legislative Session to help with the relocation. The Envirocare Environmental Foundation was established to fund projects dedicated to the preservation, conservation and responsible recreational use of Utah's environment for the benefit of current and future generations.
